We recently rewired a kitchen in Lordswood, fitting a new consumer unit at the same time. Every new appliance, such as hob, oven and dishwasher got its own isolation switch, which makes future servicing safer and simpler. The customer was kept informed at each stage, and we left the kitchen clean and ready to use. Kitchen electrics done properly take longer than a quick socket swap, but it is worth getting right once rather than having problems later.
I'm George, I run Eru Electrics Ltd, and I've been a NICEIC-registered electrician with 25 years experience. We cover Lordswood and the surrounding areas including Gillingham, Walderslade, Rainham, Wigmore, Hempstead, and Rochester.
A lot of the houses we visit in this part of Medway were built in the 1960s and 70s and the electrics have not always in line with how people use them now. Home offices drawing serious power, new kitchens full of appliances, garden rooms needing their own circuit — the original wiring was not designed for any of that. We see a lot of old Wylex and MEM rewirable fuseboxes still in service, and quite a few pendant light fittings and switches that have not been touched since the house was built.
We do fusebox upgrades, kitchen electrics, rewires, additional sockets, garden lighting, summer house electrics, CCTV.
We turn up when we say we will, the price we quote is the price you pay, and we treat your home with care. Every call is answered by my PA, you will not get a voicemail during office hours. Pricing from £90+VAT. Over 200 reviews.
My fusebox looks old. How do I know if it needs replacing?
If it has rewirable fuses rather than switches or a big RCD switch at the top, it is almost certainly a Wylex or MEM unit that predates modern safety standards. I can tell you over the phone whether it sounds like something that needs attention, or come and take a look.
What's involved in a kitchen rewire?
We assess what circuits are needed for your appliances, install dedicated runs back to the consumer unit, and fit isolation switches for each appliance. It usually takes one to two days depending on the kitchen size, and we work around you as much as possible.
How quickly can you get to me in Lordswood?
Usually within the same week for planned works. Call and my PA will confirm a time that works.
Will there be a lot of mess?
We keep disruption to a minimum. Cables are routed as neatly as possible, we protect floors and surfaces, and we clean up before we leave.
Do I get any paperwork after the work?
Yes. All notifiable work comes with an NICEIC certificate, which is worth keeping for your records, any future sale, or insurance purposes.
Not sure where to start? Just call and describe what you have noticed. I will give you a straight answer about what needs doing and what can wait. No obligation.
