One of our existing customers called us after there had been some disturbance near their property and they wanted to feel more secure. I went round, walked the property with them, and pointed out the best positions for the cameras to get proper coverage of the areas that mattered most. They accepted the quote the same day. We came back, completed the full installation that morning, set everything up on their TV and their phones, and showed them how to use it before we left.
That's a pretty typical job for us. I'm George, I run Eru Electrics Ltd, and I've been installing wired CCTV systems for 25 years. We're NICEIC registered and a Which? Trusted Trader with over 200 verified reviews. Every system we install is HikVision ColorVu, wired, and set up with remote app access before we leave the property.
We only install wired HikVision ColorVu systems. ColorVu cameras produce full colour images even at night, which makes a significant difference to the quality of footage compared to the standard black and white infrared images most cheaper cameras produce. If something happens at 2am, colour footage is far more useful for identification than a grainy greyscale image.
Everything is wired rather than wireless. Wired systems are more reliable, not dependent on battery life or wifi signal strength, and far harder to interfere with. Once the cable is in the wall it stays there, and the system works consistently without anyone needing to think about it.
Solar powered wireless cameras from online retailers are the most common alternative we see. The appeal is obvious because they're cheap to buy and there's no installation cost. In practice they're less reliable, the image quality is lower, and the footage is often not good enough to be useful if you actually need it.
The same applies to cheaper wired kits bought online and self installed. The cameras, the recorder, and the cabling all affect the quality of what you end up with. The systems we install are commercial grade and priced accordingly. You're not paying for the same thing as a kit from a supermarket.
Every CCTV installation in Maidstone, Sittingbourne, and Hempstead includes the full supply of all HikVision ColorVu equipment and materials, all cable running and installation work, full setup of the recording system, configuration of the remote app on your phone and TV where required, a full demonstration before we leave, and all rubbish bagged up.
CCTV installations start from £890+VAT. Every quote is fixed upfront based on the size of the property and the number of cameras needed. The price you're given before the job is the price on the invoice.
The walkthrough assessment is how we arrive at that price. I'll walk around the property with you, talk through the areas you want covered, and work out the right number and positioning of cameras to do the job properly. The quote is emailed to you within 48 hours of that visit.
The HikVision equipment carries a 3 year guarantee. My labour carries a lifetime guarantee. If there's ever a fault with the installation workmanship, I'll come back and put it right.

How much does a CCTV installation cost?
Our wired HikVision CCTV installations start from £890+VAT. The final price depends on the size of the property and how many cameras are needed to cover the areas you want. I'll give you a fixed price in writing within 48 hours of the walkthrough, so there are no surprises on the day.
How long does the installation take?
Most residential installations are completed within the same day.
The job we did recently for an existing customer in the area was completed within the same morning. Larger properties or those needing more cameras may take a full day.
Will I be able to view the cameras on my phone?
Yes. Setting up the app on your phone and your TV (where applicable) is included as standard. Before we leave we'll walk you through how to view the live feed, how to review recorded footage, and how the system works day to day.
Why wired rather than wireless or solar?
Wired systems are more reliable because they don't depend on wifi signal strength or battery charge. They're also harder to interfere with. For a system you're relying on for security, consistent performance matters more than easy installation, which is why we don't fit wireless or solar powered cameras.
What makes HikVision ColorVu different from cheaper cameras?
ColorVu cameras produce full colour images in low light and at night, rather than the black and white infrared images most budget cameras produce. That's a meaningful difference if you ever need to use the footage. Colour images are more useful for identifying vehicles, clothing, and people than greyscale footage.
Do you work with businesses and landlords as well as homeowners?
Yes. We install CCTV systems across Maidstone, Sittingbourne, and Hempstead for homeowners and businesses. The process is the same: a walkthrough, a fixed quote, and a single day installation with full setup included.
What guarantee do I get?
The HikVision equipment is covered by a 3 year guarantee. My workmanship carries a lifetime guarantee, so if there's ever a fault with the installation itself, I'll come back and sort it at no charge.
