What does installation involve?
A modern CCTV system requires cameras to be installed around the vulnerable areas of your property. There are various options when it comes to cameras including wired and wireless cameras, night vision, high definition and more.
On a wired system cables will need to be run to each camera and back to a recording box installed somewhere in your house. Don’t worry, in the majority of cases, cables can be run discreetly without being on show and the recording equipment can be installed somewhere out of the way.
What are the best style of cameras?
CCTV technology has improved dramatically over the years to allow us extremely high definition pictures, colour vision, and night vision options. Cameras now have audio recording and talkback facilities to enable you to interact with any would be intruder. As with many things, you get what you pay for so the best style of cameras for you would be limited only be your budget.
How many cameras can I have?
There is virtually no limit to the number of cameras that you can have installed around your property, each NVR (Network Video Recorder) or DVR (Digital Video Recorder) will have a limit on inputs but larger NVR’s can be used to accommodate your security needs.
How long does the footage get stored for?
This depends on the size of the hard drive that is installed based on your requirements. Other factors affecting storage time include the picture quality / size (measure in Mega Pixels), the number of ‘events’ (motion activations) and the number of cameras that you have storing footage.
Don’t worry though, we can install any size or number of hard drives to accommodate your security needs.
What about privacy for my neighbours?
A camera system can be set up so that any motion activations on neighbouring properties can be ignored and not recorded meaning that your neighbours have the privacy to go about their business as usual. We can also set the cameras to ignore any areas of your property where you don’t require motion activations and recording.
What is the cost for CCTV Installation?
Costs do vary depending upon the brand of system, quality of cameras, storage requirements, and number of cameras. The difficulty of the installation will factor into the cost of the overall works as systems that are likely to take several days to install will come at an increased cost over simpler, quicker installations.
Can I see the cameras on my phone?
YES. Nearly every CCTV system these days has an APP that allows you to connect to your system via your mobile phone letting you monitor your property even when you are not physically there.
Can you link the system to a TV?
In many cases, we can link the camera system to one or more TV sets around the property allowing you to view the footage from your cameras anywhere in your home. You can also have a small dedicated monitor just for viewing the CCTV footage if you prefer.
